Not impressed
I love Cold Steel. I will only buy Cold Steel. Having said that.....I am not a fan of this tomahawk.
I bought it to place in my survival kit (it is still in there) but if I could find a better replacement, I will.
The problem I had with it was:
1. the handle. I felt it was too long.
2. the handle. I felt it was to smooth so I cut some grooves into it.
3. The ax part became loose and constantly slips off now.
In its defense I might have been expecting "unrealistic" results from it but coming from Cold Steel, I will always have high expectations.
I should go to Home Depot and buy a replacement ax but I just do not have the heart to do it.

A BEAST!
When I first opened the box I knew this was some knife, as it was already ripping through the packaging. I had read online that the metal could rust, so I was glad to see a thick coat of protective grease covering the blade. I polished it to a good shine and then took a really good look at it. The 12 inch blade is a lot of knife. I took it outside and voided the warranty on it by cutting down a tree. It was a smaller tree, but not one any of my other knives could have cut down. I had originally laughed when I saw Lynn Thompson say that his knives cut through stuff like a hot knife through butter, yet that's exactly what this knife did to the branches of the tree in my backyard. It actually shocked me the fist one I chopped down due to the ease vs the lack of force I put into the swing. It did take a few hits to cut through the trunk, but this tree was too close to my house (which was why it was going down), so I was pulling my swings, just in case I missed and hit the house.
Part machete, part knife, part axe/hammer/weapon, this kukri would give any large bowie a run for it's money. The blade is thick, very solid. The handle has a great grip on it, and it is very comfortable to hold. The sheath is great, made of hard plastic with a Velcro strap that also features a metal snap for extra reinforcement. This knife really didn't feel as heavy while wearing as I thought it would. It felt very natural. I also found it less taxing to use than an axe, though I would have used an axe or a chain saw if the tree were any bigger.
If I had to say one thing bad about this knife it would be the length of the handle. While it fit my hand okay, I would have been happier with an extra inch or so of gripping space. My hand literally takes up the whole handle, leaving little room for the paracord I was planning to add through the lanyard hole. Due to that, I'd really give this knife 4.5 stars.
If you are wondering if it is worth it to get this blade over the Cold Steel Kukri Machete or some other Kukri, let me just say that the metal, sharpness and over all size of this one makes it worth every penny. You'll get more done with this one than a cheaper metal or a smaller blade.

It is what it is and it is perfect for what it does
Keep in mind, this is a tomahawk - not an axe. Do not buy this and think you'll be cutting down a forest. It was made for throwing. I bought it as a light ax for camping - chopping wood and pounding stakes into the ground. I've used it to chop wood for camp fires and it does the job very well. It cuts deep into the wood, so if you know how to chop properly it will do the job. I was worried about the handle being too slick, but haven't had any issues.
I took this Hawk into to woods a few weeks ago, and it was great. I was camping at Wayne National Park in southern Ohio with my dad and my son at the "primitive" campground. The weight was perfect for carrying on the hike in and the long handle make it perfect for chopping wood with 2 hands, unlike a smaller hatchet. I found a fallen tree to test my Rifleman's Hawk on, and it did great! After chopping up half the tree I switched to my dad's axe to finish the job, but changed back to the Hawk as it was sharper and did a better job. I rarely if ever give anything 5 starts, but this item deserves it. Great job, Cold Steel!
Pros:
1. It is sharp and cuts wood well
2. It is light and easy to carry
3. If the handle breaks, it wouldn't be hard to build a new one if you are out in the woods (you can get extra handles)
4. Throws well, as advertised
5. The hammer is a nice bonus and has many uses when camping or working outdoors
Cons:
1. It does not come with a sheath of any kind, Cold Steel makes them now, and they run about $5, but this should have come with one
2. The handle is a little slick (good for throwing for throwing), but not that bad, I put on gardening gloves and had no issues.
If you want to enjoy the outdoors with a light weight tomahawk, I recommend this one.
